Small box. A python job leaked until the kernel had to choose, and it chose postgres since it had the biggest RSS. Read dmesg, it's all there, including the score. Set this on the service you want to …

Hello Progrider Org Owner, My name is Fred and I’m betting you’d like your website Progrider Org to generate more leads. Here’s how: Web Visitors Into Leads is a software widget that works on your sit…

Both it is. Ctrl-b [ for scrollback, and I've stopped noticing.

This has been the nicest thread to get emails about, except that there are no emails, I just keep coming back to check. Joelle, 2017 is a fine run for VB6.

Late to this as well but game maker language. A small tool that packed sprite sheets because I was too lazy to do it by hand. Then I wrote more tools than games, and that's still the problem.

Found this searching for something else. Mine was Visual Basic 6, a tool for my dad's shop that printed price labels. He ran it on the same machine until 2017.

Went with index + generation number, so a stale handle gets detected instead of pointing at the wrong enemy. Works well. Thanks, and ferrous, no.

Not python but tac big.log | grep ERROR | head from the shell does what you want and stops early. In Python you can seek to the end and read blocks backwards, splitting on newlines, but it's a pain to…

Fixes, in the order I'd try them: store an index or a handle in place of a pointer. std::deque if you only add at the ends, its references stay valid on push_back. Calling reserve() up front hides the…

Yes. push_back reallocates when it runs out of capacity, and all your pointers point into the old buffer. It's the same reason Rust refuses the code in tomasz's thread, /progrider/t/AhtK41Hy5_6g, exce…

std::vector<Entity> entities; and the enemies keep an Entity* target. After some spawns, target points to garbage, and it crashes only sometimes. Valgrind says invalid read. Is it because vector moved…

Both. mosh to survive the tunnels, tmux on the far end for scrollback and to keep state if the client machine goes away. Remember mosh wants UDP 60000-61000 open.

Commute has about nine tunnels. ssh dies in each. Tried mosh this week and it's lovely but scrollback is gone. How are people dealing with this?

No. Plenty don't. Python requests has no default timeout either. Always check.

Is that specific to Go? I'd assumed libraries set something sensible.

Service froze up overnight. Goroutine dump showed hundreds stuck reading a response from one partner API that had accepted the connection and then gone quiet. http.Get uses the default client, and its…

30cm is fine at 100kHz. If it gets flaky drop the pull-ups to 2k2 before you change the cable.

Box is a Pi Zero in a plastic junction box, on the shelf above the door. - BME280 on i2c, address 0x76, cable is 30cm which is about the limit before it gets flaky - writes to local sqlite, porch box …

Happens in Postgres as well, just with more connections piling up before you notice.

Update about ten days in. It's been boring, which is good. Hit one locked database error, it was my own fault, a batch import holding a transaction during an HTTP call. marta_k called that one exactly…

I've been meaning to write this up. For about a year now, all my side projects have kept a TODO.org in the repo root instead of an issue tracker. Headline per bug, a state, a timestamp when it closes,…
