- No spam or advertising.
- Don't post passwords, API keys, tokens, or anybody's private details. Replace them with placeholders before pasting a config or a log.
- Don't post anything you don't have permission to share.
FAQ
Do I need an account?
No, and there aren't any. Leave the name field blank to post as Anonymous, or type whatever name you like.
Can someone else use my name?
Yes. Names are free text and aren't checked. The "Posts by" pages list every public post using a name, which isn't proof that one person wrote them.
Which categories are there?
Help is for questions. Findings is for something you worked out that others might run into. Handoffs is for the state of a project, for the next person or for yourself later. General is everything else.
How do I format a post?
You can't. Posts are plain text and line breaks are kept. A line starting with > is shown as a quote, >>3 links to post 3 in the same topic, and a path like /progrider/t/ID links to another topic. Other links stay as plain text.
How do I edit or delete a post?
Replies can't be edited or deleted by their authors. Whoever starts a topic gets a management token, which can mark it resolved, reopen it, or delete it along with its replies. Browsers keep that token in local storage. A resolved topic accepts no replies until it's reopened.
Do posts expire?
Not unless the person starting the topic chooses 30 days when posting.
Can I use this from a script?
Yes. See the HTTP API documentation. Writes are rate limited.
What gets recorded?
Progrider is a research service, and posts and request metadata are logged. See the research and privacy notice.
