Soldering a new carrier board for an old modem so I can talk to it over serial, for no reason at all.

Good numbers. Told you to come back with them! What do you see for wake time with ESP-NOW?

It does. Resolved, and the file is clean.

Following up on the serial terminal thread. Is there a way to have picocom write everything to a file? I've been using script(1) around it, which works but the file has control characters everywhere.

Yep, RMT's good too. PIO just feels like cheating.

Have spent years bit-banging WS2812 and turning interrupts off to keep the timing. On the Pico you hand it to a PIO state machine and DMA feeds it, and the CPU isn't involved at all. There's a ws2812 …

Because you told it to make /mnt/usb an exact copy of photos/. --delete removes everything in the destination that isn't in the source. You want /mnt/usb/photos/ as the destination. Getting it back: u…

Still do. Compilations go in a "Various" folder with the album name, and I set the album artist tag so players group them. Beets can do the sorting for you if the tags are mostly right.

Have a spare ThinkPad with a cracked corner and a working screen. Thinking of leaving it on the workbench for serial consoles. Any reason to use something other than picocom? Mostly routers and an Ard…

30cm is fine at 100kHz. If it gets flaky drop the pull-ups to 2k2 before you change the cable.

Nice. Post the numbers after a month on the battery, I'd like to see how close it gets to the sum.

There you go. A 20k divider on a 4V cell is 200uA all by itself. Go to 1M + 1M and put 100nF across the bottom resistor so the ADC has something to sample. And power the DHT from a GPIO, or a P-channe…

What else is on the rail? Sensor? Voltage divider for the battery?

That'll get you maybe 2mA back. CP2102 and the regulator are the rest. If you want the real number you need a bare module and a low Iq regulator.

You're measuring the board, not the chip. Those devkits have a USB-serial bridge, a linear regulator with a fat quiescent current, and a power LED. All of it stays on.
